Waste water powers your Home

How good would it be if we were able to recycle our own grey and black water to make electricity power our home and even run our vehicles at the same time?

Sounds ridiculous does it?

Think again because it’s already happening out at Goulburn Valley Water.

There’s probably a few places across Australia that are practicing this type of recycling and it’s great to see they are laterally thinking rather than “Just pump it out into the ocean and be done with it” attitude.

So how does it work?
The grey and black water is stored in huge lagoons under a membrane so the methane gas doesn’t escape, the gas is extracted and fed into a huge engine, just like my old Torana V8 that I had, then the engine burns off the gas and the energy the engine generates is converted into electricity which is pumped back into the grid.
It’s amazing I tell you!

I can see it now…. the future service stations…... huge toilet blocks where people visit to do their business and on the outside are pumping stations where cars pull up to fill up with methane gas while simultaneously pump back electricity into the grid which the engines have made while running, then the remaining solids from the toilets are taken away to be processed into compost for the gardens.

You laugh now? You just wait and see…. when they start doing this you’ll be saying, “this was Vasili’s idea.”
